OIL TANK SERVICES

Dorson has been primarily involved in the assessment of underground storage tank spills to soil and groundwater. In the homeowner area, we provide underground storage tank assessments via soil samples collected from below the tank bottom utilizing a variety of investigative tools. Before you sell your home you should have the underground oil tank tested for possible leaks, as cleanups can be expensive.

Underground Oil Tank Soil Testing

tank testingDorson is fully trained and qualified in underground storage tank testing. We can provide proper permitting, testing, and results typically within a few days of your request, while we utilize several methods to assess tank integrity; most commonly we employ our soil assessment. Simply stated, four bore holes are placed around the tank and soil samples are extracted and containerized for screening with a photoionization detector.

Soil and Ground Water Assessment

soil testingOften times, releases from underground or above ground tanks require additional assessment in order to properly quantify the condition. We are fully outfitted with Geoprobe® sampling equipment for environmental assessment. Our experienced field team (certified subsurface evaluators) can collect soil and groundwater data in the tank area to further evaluate the site conditions.

Laboratory Analysis and Reporting

Dorson is equipped with field screening instrumentation for "real time" analysis of samples. However, when transacting real-estate, confirming laboratory analysis is often preferred over field instrumentation for accurate data.

Dorson has been a specialist in tank management and assessment for almost forty years and the staff includes a former environmental regulator. We can assist your situation by providing the level of data and reporting you require quickly and get the required "sign-offs."

These services have been utilized by real-estate professionals, real-estate attorneys, major lending institutions and municipalities. Dorson is licensed to perform tank work in most municipalities and maintains all OSHA safety and NFPA certifications.

  • Dorson is fully certified with the Environmental Protection Departments in all Northeastern U.S. States and OSHA for this type of work.
  • Dorson will take necessary steps to identify subsurface utilities at boring site.
  • Dorson will make all necessary arrangements with the homeowner.
  • Soil borings do not damage lawn areas, being just 1.5” in diameter.
  • Soil borings are placed away from the tank and therefore do not harm the tank.
  • The entire process takes approximately two hours, no access to the house is typically required, and therefore the homeowner does not need to be present
  • All test results are confidential.

Remember, Dorson is not merely a testing company. We are consultants with many years of experience in property transfers and insurance issues. Should any problem arise connected with the testing, we are with you to help resolve it, at no additional charge.

Our test methods are the most widely recognized, most accurate and least costly of all available methods.
